Hello, I’m Gail.
Taking the step to seek counselling can feel daunting, but you don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever has brought you to counselling. My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative, and I believe you are the expert on your own life.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma and emotional overwhelm
Lived Experience & Understanding
I have my own experience of being late-diagnosed autistic and understand how masking, feeling different and trying to fit into expectations can affect your wellbeing.
This lived experience, alongside my professional background, helps me create a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend or have all the right words. You can simply be yourself.
I work with both neurodivergent and neurotypical adults, and I particularly welcome clients who may have spent a long time feeling misunderstood or struggling to feel comfortable being themselves.
My Professional Background
I am a qualified counsellor with 20 years of professional experience in social work, including front-line mental health and adult services across Northern Ireland.
Throughout my career, I have supported people through complex and challenging circumstances, including trauma, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, safeguarding concerns and domestic abuse.
I bring this experience alongside my counselling training and clinical practice to offer an informed, compassionate and individualised approach.
My Approach
My counselling is person-centred, trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming.
I use an integrative approach, drawing on different therapeutic approaches, including CBT and psychodynamic ideas, where appropriate.
Rather than expecting you to fit into a particular model, we work together to find an approach that feels right for you.
Most importantly, you set the pace.
